    We are recruiting for a Procurement Specialist.  This position:

     

    • Supports facility operations through commodity management, procurement of major capital goods and services including source identification and qualification, quoting, negotiation, order entry, order placement, expediting and processing return.
    • Negotiates and /or administers purchase contracts for complex and highly technical items, materials or services, frequently specially designed and manufactured exclusively for the purchaser.
    • Establishes and maintains a solid working relationship with internal and external customers and vendors and performs supplier audits, supplier selection and ongoing rating.
    • Continually assesses market conditions which may affect procurement and offer updates and recommendations.
    • Monitors, analyzes, and reports material variances to standard cost. Interfaces with Accounting, Manufacturing Engineering and Production to establish standard costs.
    • Identifies problems areas and offers possible solutions and has ability to manage special projects.
    • Develops company negotiation strategies based on an evaluation of cost and pricing data. Conducts fact-finding investigations. Negotiates long-term contract with key suppliers to obtain effective prices, terms, products and services.
    • This position is broader in scope than a buyer.
    • Some independent travel is required.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Bachelors in Business Administration Degree or Equivalent.
      • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
      • Minimum 7 years in a purchasing/procurement (or equivalent) position with increasing scope and responsibilities.
      • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to balance multiple tasks.

      Additional Qualifications:

      • Intermediate level skill in word processor and spreadsheet applications.
      • Observe all applicable ISO standards and related procedures for compliance.
      • SAP skills helpful.
      • Chemical knowledge/skills are very helpful.
      • Is accountable, reliable and completes work on time, accepts responsibility.
      • Demonstrated ability to effectively use verbal, written and listening communications skills with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
      • Demonstrated professionalism (e.g., cooperation, courtesy, assertiveness, non-defensiveness, accepting constructive criticism and maintaining confidences).
      • Effectively communicates technical information and complex ideas.
      • Demonstrated good customer relation skills by providing prompt personalized service.
      • Demonstrated attention to detail through accuracy and completeness of information.
      • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines in a timely manner (time management and stress).
