    Job Summary:


    The role of the Supply Chain Procurement Engineer is to plan, implement and validate design transfer projects in the supply chain. The Procurement Engineer, working closely with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Commodity Management will identify and approve sources of supply, and propose make vs. buy to management. The Procurement Engineer will facilitate early supplier involvement and the incorporation of DFx feedback into designs (where 80-90% of cost is established). The Procurement Engineer will ensure supplier process planning and controls are adequate to ensure that the supplier can consistently produce defect free product. This position will work closely with Commodity Management and Operations teams to drive continuous improvement in Supplier Quality, Delivery, and Cost.



    Essential Job Functions:



    • Work with Commodity Management and R&D to determine technology roadmap requirements and determine supplier technology requirements.
    • Perform supplier assessments and audits to ensure new suppliers have appropriate capabilities for current and future requirements.
    • Facilitate early supplier involvement to ensure DFx feedback is incorporated into product designs; review and approve design releases and changes.
    • Ensure that suppliers utilize tools such as process control plans, FMEA, SPC, Gage R&R, and IQ/OQ/PQ process validation to ensure processes are in control and capable of consistently meeting requirements.
    • Establish source inspection requirements and plans as appropriate to control quality at the source.


    Supplier Management

    • Maintain quarterly supplier performance metrics for assigned commodities. Work closely with Commodity Management to drive continuous improvement in Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
    • Work with Lifecycle Engineering to incorporate Design changes that can improve Quality, Delivery, and Cost in the assigned Commodities.
    • Work closely with Product and Service Value Streams to reduce waste in the Supply Chain from Supplier to Customer.
    • Act as focal point to resolve Supplier Quality problems detected in WIP, or in the field. Use effective 8D CAPA procedures to effectively solve the problem, and prevent recurrence.

    Manufacturing Transition

    • Manage technical aspects of manufacturing transition projects from internal to external sources of supply, and between external sources.
    • Manage technical tasks of internal and supplier teams to ensure project timelines are met
    • Coordinate phase-in/out of material with Supply Chain Planning and Procurement
    • Write internal process validation reports, and review and approve supplier process validation plans and reports.
    • Establish and track Key Performance Indicators of Manufacturability for both NPI and Manufacturing Transfer projects.


    Knowledge and Experience:


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or Related Technical Degree.
    • 5 years’ experience as a Procurement Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Test Engineer supporting complex electro-mechanical products.
    • Direct experience with NPI and Mfg. Transfer projects
    • Direct experience with: Process Control Plans, FMEA, SPC, Gage R&R, and IQ/OQ/PQ Validation methods
    • Technically competent with various software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio, and Industrial SPC programs.

    • Ability to communicate effectively and gain support from team members, contractors, and management who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.

    • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
    • Customer service skills an asset.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
