Job Description

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining efficient data pipelines and architectures to support data products. This role exists to ensure seamless data flow and high data availability within the organization, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning. 
 
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data products, and you will work closely with other IT peers. Impact will primarily be end-user satisfaction, but also overall data availability and functionality.
 
This hybrid position is located at our North Carolina site (Holly Springs, NC or RTP, NC) and will report to the Global Lead, Data CoE. 
 
Job Duties 

  • Designs and constructs scalable data pipelines for processing and transferring data across systems.  
  • Implements data security measures and best practices to safeguard sensitive information.  
  • Monitor, maintain and ensure high data quality across both global and local data pipelines. 
  • Refine data pipelines in response to changing business requirements, focusing on scalability and data management.  
  • Create, document and deploy data products to address complex business challenges.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and improve IT services.  
  • Collaborates with data analysts and scientists to understand data needs and improve data accessibility.  
  • Monitors and troubleshoots data flow issues to maintain data integrity and system performance. 
     

The scope of this role includes being an active participant in data pipeline projects, ensuring high data availability, and optimizing data processes to support key business functions and data-driven initiatives. 
 
The impact includes increasing data reliability and accessibility, enhancing data-driven strategy execution, and supporting the organization’s growth objectives by ensuring robust data management practices. 
 
This role requires making decisions on complex data architecture and infrastructure issues, utilizing technical expertise and judgment to maintain and improve data products and pipelines. 
 
Qualifications 

  • Experience with Snowflake & Snowpipe ( Preferred) 
  • Experience with HighByte (Preferred) 
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education; or Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience; or PhD with 1+ year experience 
  • Strong programming skills and proficiency in data processing technologies.  
  • Expertise in designing data architectures and scalable solutions.  
  • Proven track record of implementing data security measures.  
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
