Position Overview

We are hiring a Trade Compliance Coordinator. The Trade Compliance Coordinator will assists the Compliance departments with daily import and export operations, data management, and documentation. This role supports the Manager, Trade Compliance and other team members in ensuring the company adheres to customs and export control laws and regulations by carrying out compliance tasks and maintaining accurate records, documentation, and compliance in accordance with GMP and ISO 13485.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Updating and uploading product classification data in trade management tool. Documentation review and analysis of trade-related documents, such as commercial invoices, customs declarations and shipping manifests
  • Administer and oversee import/ export controls, including screening denied party lists, and monitoring sanctions and embargos.
  • Provide support in auditing and assessing internal procedures to maintain compliance with import and export laws and regulations
  • Track corrective and preventive action plans associated with previous audit findings.
  • Manage internal and external corrective action plans.
  • Implement measures to address risk and findings from gaps
  • Provide support in the preparation of compliance reports
  • Assist in the maintenance of trade records and documentation
  • Provide support in creating policies and procedures
  • Stay informed of changes to export/import regulations and communicate updates to the team
  • Provide administrative support to the compliance team as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Required Skills/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in a trade compliance or administrative role. Familiar and knowledgeable of fundamental concepts, provisions, requirements of US Customs and Border Protection, Federal Trade Regulations, and Department of Commerce/Bureau of Industry and Security provisions and laws.
  • Proficiency in using compliance software and information systems
  • Adept with utilizing computer software applications, e.g., Adobe, Web-based applications, MS Excel, MS Word.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • The ability to effectively coordinate simultaneous activities and successfully prioritize multiple tasks with good judgment while working independently.
  • Problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to learn different products groups and their related capabilities for the specific location from which they work.
  • Basic understanding of trade restrictions, prohibitions, and ability to determine export feasibility independently
  • Knowledge of HTS and ECCN commodity classification, GRI, EN, order of review diligence, and restrictions e.g. Partner Government Agency (PGA)/Other Government Agency (OGA) subjectivity required
  • Country of origin determination experience/familiarity required.
  • Experience in pharma, health, cold chain, or bio life science sector with familiarization of GMP a plus
  • Ability to write, edit, speak and read English well

Salary and Benefits:

  • For California, the base hourly range for this position is $30.21 - $39.30. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
