Position Overview

 

The purpose of this job is to provide comprehensive instrument and electrical (I&E) maintenance support throughout the FUJIFILM New Castle Site, ensuring reliable operation of manufacturing plants, labs, and warehouses. Responsibilities include handling I&E maintenance through daily work orders, carrying out preventative maintenance activities, conducting routine inspections and calibrations and progressing emergency repairs under the direction of the Maintenance and Facilities Manager.

 

The technician must have demonstrated I&E experience in a manufacturing environment, including the installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrument and control systems.

 

Incumbent is required to work safely and adhere to the site EHS guidelines while performing tasks and through the management of third-party contractors and work permits.

About FUJIFILM Locally: FUJIFILM Imaging Colorants, Inc. is part of FUJIFILM’s Ink Solutions Group comprised of 4 companies based in the UK and USA responding to the Group CEO and COO responsible for 3 of the businesses including FFIC Inc.  FFIC Inc. has a manufacturing site in New Castle, DE where aqueous dyes, RxD, and inks are made to support the InkJet digital printing market. 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES AND RESULTS EXPECTED

 

Responsible for installing, maintaining, and testing electrically driven equipment, machinery and instrumentation (low and medium voltage).

Equipment to include pressure transmitters, temperature controllers, Programmable Logic Controllers, contactors/starters, control circuits, solenoids, variable frequency drives, UPS and other related equipment.

Electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment and documenting failure analysis

Collaborate with maintenance team and the process owners for all equipment needing support.

Define appropriate electrical spare parts, building equipment files, and defining necessary scheduled services for electrical equipment.

Assist with electrical preventative maintenance programs throughout the site.

Write electrical operation, isolation, and maintenance procedures as needed and assist in training on procedures where appropriate.

Trains operations and maintenance personnel on electrical equipment as needed.

Act as liaison between suppliers/manufacturers and manufacturing partners for problems with electrical equipment.

Assist in planning electrical work for shutdowns

Ensure all safeguards of equipment are installed correctly as needed to conform to policies and regulations.

Respond to overtime calls as required. 

Safety, environmental and GMP requirements

  • Adhere to all plant-level regulatory requirements related to safety, environmental, and GMP standards, including lockout/tag-out, electrical safety, confined space entry, and hot work. Perform and document work in accordance standards including maintaining accurate records of work orders, PM’s, logbooks, and permits.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Ensure safe work practices and always promote positive safety behaviors through proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, and follow equipment procedures to ensure safe use.
  • Ensure all safeguards of equipment are installed correctly as needed to conform to policies and regulations.
  • Participate in site safety audits and a rotating member of the EHS Committee

 

 

 Experience

 

  • Graduate of 2-year technical school or equivalent
  • 5+ years as an instrument technician/electrician in a manufacturing environment performing highly skilled electrical and controls system maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong electrical knowledge and background
  • Experience with motor controls and standard electrical components
  • Experience with repair and programming for Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley and Siemens)
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and P&IDs
  • The ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, SAP, etc.
  • Must have working knowledge of OSHA and GMP requirements as they pertain to activities throughout the plant.
