Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Performs cell culture experiments for research and development of mammalian cell culture products, technical product support, and/or process improvements.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors
  • Exercises judgment within general defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Performs common chemical/biological assays, including but not limited to buffer and solution preparation, maintaining mammalian cell culture, transfection, dPCR, immunoassay, and quantification of biomolecules such as antibodies, adeno-associated viral vectors, and lentiviral vectors
  • Performs experimental design and data analysis using Microsoft Suite, statistic and other experimental design and data plotting or analysis software
  • Prepares formal reports and presentations.
  • Actively participate in group/project meetings
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
  • Maintain Good Laboratory Practices, Procedures, and documentation.

 

Required Skills/Education:

  • B.S. in a Biological/Chemical Science, chemical/bio/biomedical engineering or equivalent. M.S. preferred
  • B.S. candidates, a minimum of 5 years of relevant lab-related work experience
  • M.S. qualified candidates, a minimum of 2 years of relevant lab-related work experience
  • Ability to perform a wide range of assigned work and solve complex problems
  • Ability to demonstrate potential for critical thinking
  • Knowledge of Mammalian Cell Culture, Chemistry, Biochemistry and College-level Math.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (scales, pH meters, dPCR etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience of Mammalian Cell Culture in Biosafety cabinets, PCR (qPCR or dPCR) and immunoassay is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of commonly used experimental/research concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Suite, data.
  • General knowledge of project management.
  • Knowledge of GMP and GLP procedures
  • Attention to details with critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to follow instructions and SOP’s, motivation in learning new knowledge and hands-on techniques, and awareness of basic lab etiquettes and hygiene is highly desirable
  • Bioreactor knowledge a plus
  • Ability to speak, write and read English fluently

Salary and Benefits:

  • For California, the base salary range for this position is $82,353 - $107,363 annually. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
