Position Overview

The IGEN Digital Press Operator is responsible for efficiently working with materials for the press area, while effectively operating and maintaining digital press finishing equipment with limited assistance. This position also requires a certification to be able to troubleshoot printers to enhance the quality of the products and reports to the Production Supervisor in Greenwood, SC.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Monitors output through computer to ensure quality of images. Reviews output and adjusts color, contrast, light and dark factors, as well as positioning of the image (i.e.-image is reversed or upside down), and any other factors affecting the quality of the output.
  • Operates and maintains digital print engine and equipment with limited assistance. Ability to keep multiple print engines running simultaneously. Prioritizes processing according to processing time used and volume.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and quality issues and performs maintenance within the Xerographic area. Maintains logs and accurately records service calls. Performs directed press color checks / Print Engine maintenance /Xerographic calibration.
  • Ensures accuracy and consistency of xerographic output. Continually inspects jobs coming off press for completeness, accuracy, and defects. Adjusts if tolerances reach upper or lower limit quality standards. Forwards complete work to appropriate departments for completion.  
  • Keeps all products organized and in the proper location. Dumps trash and recycle items in proper locations. Cleans and maintains products, machines, and / or work areas.
  • Determines the materials and supplies needed for production before beginning production and to ensure it is ordered to prevent down time.
  • Communicates effectively, efficiently, and appropriately with all employees. Be able to be a team player and assist other team members to complete other task.
  • Provide employee with basic training on the equipment.
  • Responsible for training employees pursuing Xerox certification.
  • Follows established EHS guidelines as pertains to safety, PPE, etc.
  • Completes all paperwork required according to procedures.
  • Monitors connections to ensure data is being transmitted to the proper area for billing purposes.

 

Required Skills/Education

  • 1-3 years in production related to digital printing
  • IGEN 4 or 5 Certification (Xerox certification)
  • High School Education or equivalent
  • Exhibits a safety-first attitude in all that is done, from proper personal protection equipment compliance to keeping the work environment safe and hazard-free. Compliance with all workplace and safety standards required.
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Technical and mechanical experience in printing/operating, especially digital printing preferred.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure all materials added are accurate.
  • Responsibility for work produced and problem-solving skills to fix errors.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey information to others to ensure quality standards are achieved.
  • Ability to stand and move around the work area for long periods of time.
  • Possess skills to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced
