Position Overview

As the Shipping Supervisor you will be responsible for supervision of all shipping functions, finished goods storage, and deliveries.  Manage the development of new shipping strategies and provide recommendations on additional stocking and distribution locations needed to support growing worldwide business.  Provide training and on-going support to new warehouse locations.   As the Shipping Supervisor you will also plan future requirements for Shipping personnel, facilities, and equipment by evaluating Shipping productivity, projected product volumes, and product mix.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Responsible for the selection and hiring of Shipping staff of approximately 4 – 8 people directing their activities, and evaluating their performance.
  • Plan, organize and direct Shipping activities to ensure order fulfillment with 100% customer satisfaction. In collaboration with the Warehouse Supervisor, oversee efficient operation of warehouse and transportation functions, including storage, delivery, equipment maintenance, and safety.
  • Assure inventory accuracy on all finished goods by conducting daily cycle counts. Analyze and research discrepancies and provide resolutions. Provide support to other departments to improve their cycle count programs.
  • Develop recommendations on additional stocking and distribution locations needed to support growing worldwide business. Provide training and on-going support to new warehouse locations.
  • Develop, implement and monitor standard operating procedures for warehousing and shipping activities.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing performance feedback. Train, coach, take disciplinary action when needed and provide recognition to employees to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement action plans for technology improvements and process changes to improve productivity and quality.
  • Plan future requirements for Shipping personnel, facilities, and equipment by evaluating Shipping productivity, projected product volumes, and product mix.
  • Exhibit a strong sense of safety and of enforcing safe work practices. Ensure that FDA, ISO, OSHA and DOT standards for warehousing, distribution and employee safety are met.
  • Responsible and accountable for carrying out the requirements of the company's quality system.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Associates degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management; APICS certification; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years-related supervisory experience preferably in a warehouse/distribution environment.
  • Some experience/background in regional/national/international transportation management preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory control/accuracy processes.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse management systems. Knowledgeable in all aspects of shipping, order fulfillment, logistics, and distribution.
  • Proven experience in process improvement and productivity achievement.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of warehouse management software.
  • Experience in developing and implementing warehouse policies and procedures in an FDA or ISO quality system.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent customer focus and solid analytical and problem solving skills; must operate with a sense of urgency.
  • Extremely organized with the ability to work on and manage multiple activities within tight time lines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, training and motivational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business partners.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs with or without accommodations

Salary and Benefits:

  • $30.50/hr. - $37.50/hr. depending on experience (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).
