Position Overview

The successful Scientist I monitors ongoing experiments, identifies or resolves project issues, and provides technical leadership within the group. The individual takes a more active role in non-routine process development activities and may act as a technical lead for the analytical component of client programs.

Job Description

What You'll Do: 

  • Method development, testing, assay qualification and phase appropriate verification for protein-based therapeutics in a non-GMP laboratory.
  • Most common assays will include U/HPLC (RP, SEC, IEX) and Capillary Electrophoresis (CE-SDS, icIEF).
  • Once trained, the ability to perform experiments independently with minimal supervision. Timely and detailed documentation of experiments
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work productively in a team environment.
  • Works under supervision on R&D projects.
  • Develops by means of research, ones own specialty. 
  • Develops an intense knowledge within one’s own specialty.
  • Delivers reliable results. Keeps an accurate lab journal.
  • Contributes to a good functioning project team.
  • Ensures for timely delivery of experimental results.
  • Makes use of known experimental techniques.
  • Ensures for safe working for oneself and for others.

Basic Requirements:  

  • Bachelor of Science degree and minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience. 

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Experience in Empower preferred

Physical Demands: 

  • The position requires essential physical abilities, including but not limited to typing, standing, stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing repetitive motions, and the ability to move around in designated areas. Additionally, this individual may need to exert physical effort such as lifting objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity:

  • The individual in this position should have the visual acuity required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal engaging in extensive reading, using measurement devices, and/or assembly or fabrication at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions:

  • The individual in this position works in an indoor environment with controlled temperatures, avoiding extreme heat or cold. Some areas may be prone to loud noises requiring the use of earplugs. This role involves exposure to proteins, caustic agents, reagents, biohazardous products, and possible needle sticks. Additionally, the person in this role may be exposed to pungent smells, irritants, and/or aerosols that could affect the airways and the skin.
